Arts lover and singer!
Whatever I do I tend to throw myself completely into it, and I appreciate getting to know people who feel the same way about their pursuits, whatever they are. I am a sociable person and value my friends and new acquaintances.

Making music with others is my joy. In my youth I carried a guitar to folk clubs every weekend to accompany myself, but when my singing ambitions outstripped my strumming, I moved on! Since graduate days I have sung mainly classical repertoire with piano and sometimes strings accompaniment, also jazz standards such as Duke Ellington and the Great American Songbook.

I'm also fascinated by languages and I try to include several when I'm choosing songs to include in my concerts, the latest being Swedish. I'm not quite sure whether I'll manage to use much of it on my next trip to Malmo, but in a Swedish gift shop in Brighton I did manage to say 'I have a home by the sea, far from neighbours, like a nesting bird'! I have been keen to travel and explore, whether in Britain or abroad, the furthest trips being to China and Japan. In December 2018 I’ll be going to Cuba for the first time. Can’t wait!

Although I have always lived in London, I could never get bored here and I make the most of our amazing theatres and art galleries, often going to the National Theatre, fringe theatres, concert halls and private views. For example, I’ve had great chats with the wonderful Paula Rego at her exhibitions at the Marlborough Gallery. She once left early because she wanted to catch Eastenders, but last month she said she’s moved on from that now! I spend a lot of time in the theatre, most recent highlights being The Lehman Trilogy, King Lear (again!) and Sondheim’s Company.

I was involved in campaigns to oppose cuts in libraries and the NHS, with some success, but of course they manage to work round it by changing the law! Injustice does make me angry. I feel sorry for young people going into teaching now.

I'm happy and independent, have two grown up children, close friends and a lovely dog who I take for long walks along the river and in the countryside..

I appreciate warmth, wit and kindness in other people, and would love to meet the man with whom I can share my friendship and maybe my life. He would be quite self-confident and also sensitive to others, so that between us we can be generous-hearted enough to spend time getting to know each other. Curiosity free from prejudice is key to getting close to another person. It's worth
