Giving it a whirl

The most romantic film I know is Casablanca, I love the truth contained in that famous lyric 'the fundamental things apply as time goes by'.
In that vein the older I get the more I appreciate simplicity: the joy of an English Spring, the sound of birdsong, the laughter of children.
In my forties I am the happiest I have ever been, I'm more accepting of my failings and more forgiving of the same in others.
I try to be open to what this extraordinary life has to offer, brave enough to go through the pain of learning and to enjoy the challenge it presents.
On a practical level I am reasonably solvent, healthy, educated and grounded, I do what needs to be done but preciously guard my sense of self.
I find intelligence, sensitivity and creativity compelling, why follow others when you have the unique privilege to just be yourself?
My favourite things involve my senses: I treasure trying a new taste or flavour, I take my pleasures very seriously and am an avid wine taster and foodie explorer.
Like you I am a product of my times, I play the corporate game but kick against the strictures of modernity, I got rid of my TV last year and find that I enjoy the pictures on radio far more.
My week is fairly open, the only fixed things are pilates and a bit of running, weekends are for friends, I allow myself to act like a kid when watching the rugby.
If moved I'll write poetry, sing and dance with abandon, you have to be special to get this response, humbly I submit that this is all I ask of you.
Anyway, thanks for reading, I am old-fashioned in the sense that I think that the man should do the chasing, I heard the phrase the other day that 'men choose, but women decide', what do you think?
