Indulge
This is a time to relax, indulge a little and have some fun. We have worked very hard for some while and been distracted from us. My favourite quote, heard recently, was " You are a human being, not a human doing". Says it all. Warmth, openness, honesty, balance. These words I hope define me emotionally and will define the person I am looking for. She will be intelligent, engaging, healthy and excited by what lies ahead. A loving relationship is the prize which I believe completes us all. I have had two and am aware how much I have grown as a result. Working in creative industries; newspapers, magazines, music, training has been the core of my professional life and I love to be provoked, challenged and engaged by ideas. I also love to have reckless fun - something unplanned, spontaneous, fun. The woman I am looking for may have different passions and that would be lovely. But she will be balanced, secure in herself and fun and will still be looking at life as a reward and a thrill.
Oh, and my pictures are a year or less old.

Occupation:
Company Director/author
Education:
University and professional
Religion:
I am spiritual and have faith.

Democracy has become bureaucracy. I admire certain politicians for their passion and commitment but they can be from any party.
Appearance:
I take good care of myself.
Languages Spoken:
French, French
Musical Instruments played:
Sadly not, played piano and violin as a child and when I abandoned them for sporting interests I remember my mother saying:" What are you going to do at parties?"
Music Enjoyed:
Blues, Classical, Folk, Opera, Pop, Reggae, Soft Rock, World Music, 50s music, 60s music, 70s music, 80s music, Music is a core element of life and I worked in a record company for a while. I have very catholic tastes in music and find the mood and events dictate. Could be John Martin could be Verdi, could be the Alabama 3 could be Shostakovich.
Sports and exercise:
Cricket, Gym, Swimming, Tennis
Interests and activities:
Chess, Cooking, Countryside, Eating Out, Friends, History, Internet, Reading, Theatre, Travel, Walking, Writing
Newspapers and magazines:
Guardian, Independent, Telegraph, The Times, I like to read around and get the different views and flavours. Just as likely to be reading New Statesman or Spectator - I like to be provoked and challenged by strong and informed writing.
Books:
George Orwell, Julian Barnes, Martin Amis, Salman Rushdie, Have a large library both in books and e-reading. There are favourite books and authors who I re-read. Possibly my favourite would be A Terrible Beauty by Peter Watson - " the people and ideas which shaped the modern mind". His words not mine but the lovely thing about it is that it prizes science and art as equally important.
Favourite Films:
Jean de Florette, Cinema Paradiso, Manhattan
Enjoyable evening out:
Art Gallery, Wine bar, Meal, Pub, An evening out for me is a good chat. If it were to be the theatre or cinema it would be because we wanted to watch something specific, otherwise the conversation, night life, bustle and engagement would be more likely.
Favourite Dishes:
Lemongrass and ginger marinated chicken. Like most of these questions the response is dictated by the moment. Can't truly imagine choosing the foie gras but any of the others, at any other time, might be my choice.
Ideal Holiday:
Driving across the US, Driving slowly around Ireland, Learning to paint in Provence, things which stimulate the mind and the body.
In another life:
a cat, an artist, an author, an explorer, a musician, Leonardo Da Vinci
Personality:
Affectionate, Cheerful, Creative, Different, Generous, Humorous, Intellectual, Loving, Mad, Modest, as I read these they seem somewhat contradictory but I recognise them individually so, unless I am fooling myself, they must be there in the community which is my personality. Perhaps you will one day let me know.
